Two Members Join VASEM Board of Directors

VASEM is pleased to announce that Mr. David Roop and Dr. Robert Phillips will join the VASEM Board of Directors on January 1st, 2019. The Board of Directors oversees the strategic vision of the Academy and all board members volunteer their time to grow the role of the Academy as an independent science and technology advisor to policymakers in Virginia.

VASEM board members serve three-year terms. Board members regularly participate in outreach to state officials, participate in services provided to the state, and attend regular meetings and calls on behalf of the Virginia Academy.

Mr. David Roop currently serves as Director of Electric Transmission at Dominion Energy. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2018

Dr. Robert Phillips, M.D., M.S.P.H. currently services as the Vice President of Research and Policy at the American Board of Family Medicine. He was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2010.
