Congratulations to the newest VASEM member on his election to the National Academy of Sciences

The National Academy of Sciences announced today the election of 84 new members and 21 foreign associates from 14 countries in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.

Those elected today bring the total number of active members to 2,291 and the total number of foreign associates to 465.

Newly elected Virginian members and their affiliations at the time of election are:

Meng, Xiang-Jin; professor of molecular virology, College of Veterinary Medicine; professor of internal medicine, Carilion School of Medicine; and professor, department of biomedical sciences and pathobiology, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg
