About X.J. Meng

Professor X.J. Meng’s achievements include the discovery of swine and avian hepatitis E viruses and the invention of the first fully-licensed U.S. Department of Agriculture commercial vaccine against porcine circovirus type 2. Meng’s laboratory in the Center for Molecular Medicine and Infectious Diseases studies emerging and zoonotic viruses that are of human and veterinary public health importance.

Meng has authored or co-authored more than 285 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. These have been cited more than 16,642 times by other researchers. Meng has been awarded more than 46 research grants as a principal investigator with more than $16 million, and he is also a co-investigator or collaborator on more than 55 other awarded grants of more than $28 million.
