VASEM provides expertise to review applications for Virginia Research Investment Fund

By September 29, 2017 No Comments

During the 2016 legislative session, the Virginia General Assembly created the Virginia Research Investment Fund (VRIF) and the Virginia Research Investment Committee (VRIC) to grant funding for innovative research that will lead to commercialization – with the goal of growing the Virginia economy. The State Council for Higher Education in Virginia (SCHEV) administers this program. However, VASEM was named in the legislation to assist in reviewing those applications on their science and technical merits.

We called upon our members to volunteer their time and expertise to fill this role. The response was overwhelming and VASEM provided over 40 nominations to the committee. Of those, several were selected to review and score applications.
